Director Statement
A pandemic is about the only thing that can make me slow down. I usually run in 5th gear - literally. I'm a runner and when I run I look ahead with music blaring in my headphones and have no time for distractions. Until...March 2020. Lockdowns, social distancing and a virus turned the world upside down. The world stopped and stood still and so did I. Everything felt complicated from finding toilet paper to figuring out Zoom. So I decided to head outside for an uncomplicated run. But this time, I stopped during my run to look at a pond that's located in a small park. To my surprise, I wasn't in a hurray. I guess a pandemic will do that to you. Sometimes it's in those moments when we slow down that we truly see the path ahead. Stopping for just a moment led me to a big, loud and desperately lonely goose. An unusual love story unfolded and Honk and I embarked on a journey together that I would have never expected. Honk needed a friend, he needed rescuing but what I didn't realize was that I needed that too. I wasn't alone in this sentiment. As his popularity grew through news coverage, fans from around the world became invested in his story and wellbeing. This celebrity goose with almost 80K instagram followers has given hope and joy to people worldwide during such difficult times. I never finished my run that day but I did finish this film and I hope it will bring you the same joy that Honk has given me.
