Checking Out - Narrative Short - Canada

Some say it's a dog-eat-dog world. But what happens when a failed stand-up comedian, Dwiyos by name, at the end of his rope -- almost literally -- meets a canine friend? Can worlds shift with an alchemical encounter? "Checking Out," is a short film of approximately fourteen minutes, and offers a different perspective on the value of a "heart-to-heart."

​Ant Mahoney is a filmmaker based in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada and is a graduate of the School of Visual Arts in his native New York City where he studied film and video production, direction, acting and writing. Other than making his own films, Ant has worked on several award-winning documentaries and narrative shorts.

Checking Out is one of those shorts we were on the fence about.  It did not score very high from the judges, however we wanted to know what other members of AniFab thought, so we included it for our January, 2021 showcase.  What do you think of Checking Out?
