Student Film - Texas Premiere With Director Maddy Pull in Attendance! This puppet animation, made by students of the University of Bristol supported by Aardman Studios, is a charming adaptation of the medieval beast epic The History of Reynard the Fox (1481). Reynard the Fox has been up to his usual mischief and has stolen the golden egg of King Noble the Lion. He is summoned to trial by combat: his fiercesome opponent is Bruin, a brute of a bear. But Reynard is not without weapons of his own: his is the power of words. Who will win? Maddy Pull's journey as a storyteller began in Singapore, where she grew up surrounded by a blend of culture and creative energy. As a young teen, she entered a competition to win free concert tickets by filming, editing, and submitting her own recreation of a famous music video. This sparked a butterfly effect that pulled her away from studying computer science and into the world of visual media. In 2018 she directed her first film, “Elements of Yunnan”, a non-linear visual documentary exploring the culture and nature of China’s Yunnan province. Her creative career continued at the University of Bristol where she studied Film and Television. There, she worked on a variety of projects in roles such as screenwriter, motion graphics editor, camera assistant, and set designer, before eventually stepping into the role of Director for “Reynard the Fox”.
